Ordering and Installing Road Signs and Traffic Signs: A Comprehensive Guide UK

March 27, 2025 /Posted byWebsite Team / 381 / 0

Whether you’re a construction company needing site safety signs, a local council managing traffic flow, or a business requiring car park signage, getting the right road signs and traffic signs is crucial. But it’s not just about the signs themselves; it’s also about ensuring they’re installed correctly for maximum effectiveness and compliance. In this guide, Morelock will walk you through the process of ordering and installing road signs and traffic signs, and how our online shop and installation services can make it easy for you.

How to order Road Signs

The first step is to determine exactly what signs you need. Let’s suppose you want a 60 MPH Speed Sign. You can directly search for it using the search tool at our header part or explore our wide range of road signs, traffic signs, and related products at our shop page. As you can see there are two types of 60 MPH Speed Sign. Suppose that we want a permanent Sign, So we click on the first result.

After going to product page, consider the following:

  • 1. Facing (Reflective Grade):
    • Is it a permanent sign or a temporary sign?
    • What level of reflectivity is required?
    • Examples:
      • RA1 (Class 1): Entry-level reflectivity, suitable for general signage and non-critical applications.
      • RA2 (Class 2): Higher reflectivity, ideal for road signs, traffic management, and areas with higher visibility requirements.
      • R3B (Diamond Grade): Highest reflectivity, used for critical applications where maximum visibility is essential, even in challenging conditions.

  • 2. Substrate (Material):
    • What material is most suitable for the environment?
    • Will the signs need to withstand harsh weather conditions?
    • Examples:
      • Aluminium: Durable, weather-resistant, and suitable for long-term outdoor use.
      • Composite (ACM): Lightweight, rigid, and provides a smooth surface for graphics.
      • Plastic (e.g., Foamex): Lightweight, versatile, and suitable for indoor or short-term outdoor use. Also self adhesive substrates are available.
  • 3. Fixing (Mounting):
    • How will the signs be mounted?
    • Will they be post-mounted, wall-mounted, or something else?
    • Examples:
      • Channel: For secure and adjustable post mounting.
      • Quick-fit: For rapid installation.
      • Plate Only: For direct wall or surface mounting.
  • 4. Size:
    • What size do the signs need to be to ensure they’re easily visible to drivers or pedestrians?
    • Consider the viewing distance, and the context of the sign.

After taking these steps you need to enter your shipping address and pay for your order and then our production team will start manufacturing your order in 2-3 working days.
